Pea promo

This morning brought the start of summer time and although the sun was shining there was a nippy feel to the wind. So much so, that the soil temperature was higher than the air temperature.

It's been a good week again in terms of progress with drilling going to plan in the Kirton and Frampton area. One noticeable factor is the keen east wind is drying the land quickly, so we must now look at conserving moisture in the soil. However, having seen next's week's forecast we could be in for some showers later on.

Plan will be to finish the Amalfi next week and make a start on the Geneva which has arrived from Argentina! Those peas above ground have been enjoying the sun and romped on. The crop Forecaster is indicating that we will need to be ready to go in good time in June. Although if we get a few cooler weeks that will put it back.

We not only grow the peas but also promote them so it is always gratifying to see retailers such as Waitrose giving "the pea" some excellent coverage. Over 2000 acres now in the ground, so still a long way to go.
