A glorious week in terms of the weather and we followed the old saying, "make hay while the sun shines".The final drilling's of the Amalfi in Holbeach Marsh and Moulton we're finished before a start was made on some Geneva. This time last year we were struggling to get peas into moisture and having to put them in at 5 inches. This year lots of moisture currently and peas going in at 2 inches into perfect moisture and very warm soil. Couldn't be better fo r establishment. We now have just over 56% of our peas in. Still a way behind on the calendar and I cannot see us completing our programme before the end of May. However, if we retain the moisture in the soil and have good sunlight in June, July and August things could still be ok. Time will only tell.Early peas are developing flower buds but are some way from throwing flowers.
