A spectacular display over the fields of Lincolnshire
It was an ordinary day in the pea fields as we were busy harvesting one of our Amalfi crops. In fact, it was perhaps the best crop of Amalfi that we’ve ever produced in the Kirton-in-Lindsey area.
But just weeks earlier, when we were inspecting the field with one of our customers, there came a rumble of aircraft growing ever louder; and not just the usual jet engines, but the roar of engines from a wartime era.

As we looked to the clear blue skies, we saw a procession of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight featuring planes from throughout the ages, starting with wartime aircraft, then followed by Red Arrows and Tornadoes.
We watched this spectacular display in awe, and it wasn’t until later that we heard this flight was part of the preparations for King Charles’ coronation a couple of weeks later. They were starting the procession over the North Sea, then coming in over The Wash and using RAF Cranwell as Buckingham Palace and the Mall to ensure their timings were perfect.

Ironically, on the big day itself, the clouds were so low that they were only able to put a limited number of aircraft in the sky. Yet we’d had a perfect view from a pea field in Lincolnshire just weeks before!
