The perfect mix of sunshine and showers

It has to be said that the weather has been pretty kind of late. Sunshine, warmth during the day and a number of welcome showers. Perfect growing conditions. So much so that the rate of growth has been staggering.

From very small flat pods a week ago, to blown pods with peas forming. This is indicating an early start. With the completion of the drilling programme behind us attention is now focused on other matters. Continued crop health is paramount so we are checking for aphid and moth regularly. Some crops are needing nutrients such as manganese and phosphite to ensure they reach their full potential.

The boys are pulling everything together in the yard and making sure we are all set for our 8 week Grand Tour of Lincolnshire starting next month. As it stands crops are flowering in sequence and long may that continue. As for a start date, sampling could start next week!
